Who isn’t a fan of Joanna Gaines? She has brought farmhouse chic to the masses and has encouraged us to embrace a more casual, country style of living. She’s a goddess. I’ve said over and over that the farmhouse style isn’t for everyone. But now, Joanna Gaines’ Anthropologie collection is finally here! It’s time that farmhouse meets boho in the coolest way possible.
Honestly, this collection is a breath of fresh air. Lately, I am just finding the farmhouse style to be getting tired. And who wants a tired interior? The problem is that Joanna Gaines is brilliant, but, her design aesthetic when translated by non-designers can get tacky really fast. A simple Pinterest search for farmhouse decor will confirm my thesis.
That’s why designers, like myself, are chiming in to remedy the situation. Joanna is pairing up with retailers to show how to properly bring the farmhouse aesthetic to your home. I recently wrote a post about how to use shiplap in 2019. So, let’s all see what Joanna teaches us when it comes to updating her classic style, because trends are-a-changin’.

Now, I know the same thing I’ve said about the farmhouse aesthetic can be said about the bohemian aesthetic. Not everyone lives in a farm, sure, and also not everyone lives in the forest surrounded by crystals (or whatever the stereotype says). One of my favorite quotes, from my favorite essay is this,
“Speak what you think today in hard words and tomorrow speak what tomorrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict every thing you said today.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
Point being, people are so multi-dimensional with depths you cannot even imagine. We have so many thoughts, opinions, and feelings. We are living contradictions. So, speak your opinions today and then speak your opinions tomorrow, even if those opinions seem to contradict your other opinions. We are constantly evolving, as we should be. I love bright in-your-face color, but I also appreciate a calming neutral space just as much. We are a host of contractions, so embrace it!

There is a lot to love in this collection. Joanna is so talented that she can jump from style to style without skipping a beat. By jumping to the boho market, she is reaching even more people who also love casual, laid-back interiors with a lot of texture. Those are my people. Let me show you what I believe to be the best of Joanna Gaines’ Anthropologie collection.
Now, personally, I live for color. However, I do understand that is not for everyone, and that’s totally okay. But, not all neutrals are shades of white and gray. Joanna Gaines’ Anthropologie collection really drives this idea home that you can have color act as a neutral. Take a look at what I mean.

What do you think? Perfect farmhouse meets boho, right? One of the things I am so impressed with is how versatile Joanna Gaines’ Anthropologie collection truly is. It is full of texture and neutral patterns which are perfect places to start when adding life and a sense of “homey-ness” to a space. I love any geometric pattern so I am in heaven. Bravo, Joanna.
