I loooooove me some family rooms! They are so fun and house a lot of different points of interest. Family rooms are casual and fun, used for many different age groups, and are all centered around the idea of togetherness. Isn’t that beautiful? So today, I’m paying homage to a fun blue and white family room that I designed just for fun.
Sometimes when I’m feeling creative and have a design idea, I don’t wait for a client to ask me for the same thing, I just design it for myself! Build it and they will come, right? So, if you are a future client of mine and you want a fun blue and white family room, I gotchu. Although, in this post I’m giving you the sources for the entire design, so at this point you don’t even need me.
Anyways, one of my favorite things to design is seating areas within the family room. Creating these little intimate moments to connect is a really important part of your home’s design. I love pairing accent chairs, side tables, sofas, and rugs together and peppering in some lighting and ceramics for texture and fun. To me, this is so special. Usually, the family room is arranged around the TV, but within the room, it is just as important to also arrange some chairs around a cool coffee table and designate space for hanging out.
Blue is obviously my favorite color and palette of choice, and I’m loving colorful accents like this WONDERFUL floral painting by my Instagram friend, Wendy McWilliams. The rug is super dark so to balance that and also impart a sense of ease, I added natural elements like a woven pendant, sculptural wooden chairs, and ceramics. I think it’s important to have a minimalist family room, so that there can be plenty of space for company. Enjoy!
