Porcelain, Who? Colorful Concrete Sinks are Taking Over

What is really fun about this era of design is the mash up of a ton of different styles. Scandinavian and boho, industrial and pop art, modern and retro. It seems that every style that has been popular in the last decade is now pairing with another style that you wouldn't think would match. Today, we are exploring colorful concrete sinks; the perfect amount of industrial and pop art.

It seems that every style that has been popular in the last decade is now pairing with another style that you wouldn’t think would match. Today, we are exploring colorful concrete sinks; the perfect amount of industrial and pop art.

You might recall that the industrial style was super popular a while back. People loved the feeling of an expansive loft; I however, felt the style to be too cold, moody, and bachelor pad-esque. People were pairing concrete furniture and fixtures with rich leathers, black iron, metal factory-type pendant lights, and warm toned rugs. Now, to my delight, concrete is showing its softer side through colorful hues.

See that yellow grout? I’ll be writing about colorful faucets and grouts pretty soon because they need to be shared. But the point of this post is to show you what a difference adding color makes to concrete (and your space!). I am curious if this same method could be used for colorful concrete countertops? I would be very into that idea. So, let’s check out some color, shall we?

Colorful Concrete Sinks are Taking Over

Honestly, colorful concrete sinks are relatively new to me. It wasn’t until I saw Studio DIYs bathroom makeover that I even considered adding color to concrete–how genius! They tagged the sink manufacturer in their post, so naturally I was curious. The company is called Nood and they make these absolutely glorious concrete sinks. I still can’t believe they are concrete; they look like the colorful porcelain of the 80s and 90s.

In case you don’t remember my blog post about Studio DIYs bathroom, here’s a refresh:

These are the exact sinks they used, in blush pink concrete. So good, right? I especially like it paired in the manufacturer’s photo above with the stone mosaic wall. The long modern mirrors and globe pendants make this bathroom so modern, yet so familiar. I’m sure everyone at some point has had an old school bathroom with the matching pink tile, sink, tub, and toilet. So this is a modern take on that look that won’t make you want to go running.

The full bathroom is so stunning. It’s a great example of mixing feminine and masculine, soft and hard elements. Without the blush pink, the bathroom would be on the verge of looking too cold.

This reminds me of Miami. The Art Deco vibe is SCREAMING at me and the minty hue is so calming and tropical. You already know how much of an Art Deco decor fan I am. This little diddy would have been gorgeous in my colorful little girl’s bedroom design.

Now, I understand that many people are liking the color trend, but still have a bad taste in their mouth from their vintage monochromatic bathrooms. I hear you. If you’re not ready to spring for the colorful sink, try a colorful or patterned tile to modernize your space. This mint green vertical subway tile with the speckled stone and black fixtures is just so dreamy.

See? Aren’t these colorful concrete sinks stunning? Even Architectural Digest had to write about them. They are such a statement piece. Pair these will a cool concrete floor tile or penny tile and you’ve got a home run. You’ll also notice that the wall the sinks are on will naturally become a feature wall and the designers have installed a feature tile flanking the basins. So much style in such a simple bowl.

Now, the jury is pretty split on the bowl sinks versus the drop in or undermount. But come on! These are so sleek and cool. I especially love when the faucet is installed on the wall. Ughhhh so good. If you want to add architecture to your bathroom, this is how you do it.
