Spring! It's finally here! I know, technically it's been looming around for a while, but many places in the country are still getting snow! I didn't want to jinx our weather by declaring that spring is here. Last time I did that, it snowed within 3 days. Womp Womp. So today, I finally feel confident enough to share with you my 5 budget spring decor ideas.

Spring! It’s finally here! I know, technically it’s been looming around for a while, but many places in the country are still getting snow! I didn’t want to jinx our weather by declaring that spring is here. Last time I did that, it snowed within 3 days. Womp Womp. So today, I finally feel confident enough to share with you my 5 budget spring decor ideas. These are ideas I have consistently used in my own home for years, and I rotate them seasonally. You could use these same ideas for other seasons as well and they are a quick and easy way to update your space on a budget.

5 Budget Spring Decor Ideas

  1. Floral arrangements
  2. Accents in vases and bowls
  3. Art
  4. Curtains
  5. Pillows

Now let’s talk about each of these in depth, shall we?

Floral Arrangements

Floral arrangements are my favorite way to spice up my space. Firstly, I live in NYC, and there are flower stands every single block, so coming home with a gorgeous bouquet is super easy for me. It’s one of the great budget spring decor ideas because it doesn’t just apply to fresh flowers; you can make faux arrangements and use them season after season! A few years ago, after a particularly awful winter (hello like 3 blizzards), I went to Michael’s and made a few faux flower arrangements for our apartment to add a little brightness. I treasure these arrangements year after year. And they don’t die because they are fake! Michael’s always has coupons so I’m pretty sure I purchased each stem for 50% off.

See those beautiful tall branches? Aren’t they glorious? What better way to add drama than to make yourself some gorgeous vases for your home. Sure, I love buying fresh flowers, but here in NYC, they don’t sell single stems (unless you go to the flower district at 6am and fight all the stylists for overpriced blooms). So, to create something that is truly yours, I recommend going to your local craft store, picking up a vase (even if you don’t buy the vase), and creating your blooms with the vase while you are in the store. The cashier will have tape and ties so you can easily transport your creation home.

Accents in Vases and Bowls

Another one of my 5 budget spring decor ideas is to rotate out the contents of your vases and bowls. For me, I have a glass urn that I fill with seasonal items such as pine cones, Christmas ornaments, moss, Meyer lemons, kumquats, seashells, etc. I also rotate out the contents of my bowls: during the holidays they are filled with cinnamon scented pine cones and during warmer months they are filled with things like dried lavender, other dried florals, sea glass, stones, etc.

Take a look at how this tablescape is styled. They have a gorgeous bowl of lemons and a beautiful monochrome floral arrangement. To get maximum impact, you don’t always have to create these giant arrangements with many different stems and colors. Sometimes, the simplest arrangements can be even more impactful because they give the eye a rest. A bouquet of monochrome buds will forever be my favorite type of arrangement, with my favorite flower being just simple white tulips. There is so much beauty in simplicity, especially for updating your space for spring! For budget spring decor ideas, floral arrangements, vases, and bowls are ideal.

Art

Next up for my budget spring decor ideas is….ART! This might be my favorite category (I’m an artist and designer soooo yea, obvs). In my own apartment, I am constantly switching up the art. There is zero room for me to switch up furniture (le sigh), but art, I can do. Art is the single greatest way to enliven your space. Art also doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. There are many artists who will actually give you a free print if you sign up for your mailing list. Truly! This month, I received a free print to my inbox from both Amira Rahim and Maggi McDonald. I know Jeff Mindell recently sent out a free print from his latest trip to the inbox of those on the Studio DIY mailing list. Society 6 always has really great art options and really great sales.

You can also DIY some colorful art for your home as well! If you haven’t read my post teaching you how to select art for your home like a pro, check it out. In the post, I also give you some nice DIY tutorials to follow. See? Budget spring decor ideas do exist!

Above, I included some examples for budget spring decor ideas. I would be remiss if I didn’t include my favorite internet person’s shop, Gracelaced. If you are God-minded, Ruth will speak to your spirit with her beautiful art displaying God’s word. These prints are stunning and totally spring-y! What better way to uplift your spirit than to remind yourself of the Holy Spirit? All prints are currently 20% off at Gracelaced Shoppe for Mother’s Day, FYI.

Curtains

I am kind of a curtain junkie. At the moment, there are maybe 7 or 8 sets of curtains in the closet. Eeeeeek. I either sew my own or I buy them from Amazon, Target, Ikea, or Home Goods. You can get really good deals, guys. A few months back, I purchased a 2 pack of plain white curtains from Amazon for like $20. White is such a great curtain color and, bonus, it’s the cheapest color to buy. You could go to Home Goods right now and probably find like 5+ different styles of white for probably $15. Ikea is also great if you have one near you.

I recently switched out my “winter” curtains for some light airy white ones in the living room, and my DIY roman shades in the bedroom will be switched out after I turn some West Elm curtains into relaxed roman shades. One of the easiest ways to transform a space it to use what you already have. For example, I have these gorgeous linen West Elm curtains that were like 75% off, but the windows in the bedroom are too small for a curtain to look right, so I am just going to sew them into roman shades. Easy and free! If you don’t sew, that’s ok; you can just buy the iron on tape and be all good.

Pillows

Last up in my 5 budget spring decor ideas post is: PILLOWS! I love pillows. They tie the room together, you can have so many different colors, they are cozy and textural, the list goes on. I make my own and I also buy them from H&M Home. Did you know that H&M has a home store? Pillows are as low as $6 and I’ve seen them on sale for $2. No joke. I have some canvas and velvet ones from there and they are holding up quite nicely. Added benefit is that they offer pillow covers so you can just cover up your existing pillows for a quick and affordable refresh. I’m pretty sure H&M offers free shipping over $40 also.

And there you have it, folks! You now have 5 budget spring decor ideas to bless your home with. If you’re anything like me, the renewal that comes with spring energizes you to make your home even more beautiful and bright. Enjoy!

-Kristen
