I’m going to start a new thing where I do weekly mood boards. I love mood boards and they are a great way to see how a room comes together. So, every week, I’ll share either the mood boards I’m working on for a client or some just for fun. Today, I put together a West Elm mood board using ONLY clearance items.
West Elm is one of my favorite stores for home decor. I am currently looking at 7 West Elm items in my living room, and all of them were purchased on major sale. My throw pillows, curtains, throw blanket, and wooden sculpture were all at least 50% off.
You know I love a good sale and I actually specialize in budget interiors! My home is a combo of West Elm, Target, DIYs, and thrifts. I even have a mid century night stand I found on the street (don’t worry, I cleaned it).
One of the reasons I am going to start doing mood boards of only sale items is to show you again and again that budget doesn’t have to mean bad. Budget can just as easily be BEAUTIFUL. Personally, I think it’s more fun to design a space on budget because that’s when the creative choices really get to shine. Without further adieu, let’s check out today West Elm mood board!

I actually had to create 2 mood boards because a chair I thought was on clearance, wasn’t in the color that I specified (isn’t that how it always goes?). So, I made another West Elm mood board featuring all clearance items. Here’s the first one with the full price chairs:

Now THIS colorway is the clearance chair. Whew! Since this chair is so colorful, I also switched out a few other decor pieces. Everything else is the same and this mood board has ALL clearance items.

What do you think? One of the benefits of shopping all from one store is that the colors will go together because it is part of a single line. I don’t typically recommend this strategy, as I prefer to pull from many sources, but, you can still get something awesome all from the same store.
