So, last week I started something new and fun. My client is moving into a super sweet cottage (dream!!!) in Nashville and needs a good design in every room…and on a budget. Well :: cracks knuckles:: luckily, that’s what I specialize in. Today, I’m sharing with you our design plans for this affordable boho bedroom makeover!
We will be doing this room by room, combining what she already has with some other affordable pieces. The best part? This girl is down to DIY!!!! You have no idea how happy it makes me when working with someone who is willing to get her hands dirty and make something. SWOON.
Oh, it gets better. Since I am not living in Nashville, I obviously cannot go to thrift stores with her, and the majority of thrift stores don’t have an online inventory. So, this lovely lady is also willing to do some hunting to find some special pieces for low prices.
For the purpose of this post, I am linking a couple similar items to the ones she has so that you can get the same look. A couple of the decor pieces we are still figuring out (mainly the pillow scheme), and we have plans to DIY a vessel that her mom has and fill it with branches from around her cottage.
There have also been talks of some DIY art! Specifically, finding some flowers from around her cottage and pressing them. So, this project will turn into The Nashville Series because we have so many plans for each space, and it is rare that I work with someone so down for anything. This needs to be documented.
An Affordable Boho Bedroom Makeover in Nashville
She loves nature elements, pattern, color, and an all around bohemian vibe. I am into it. She also loves quirky art and typography as well as anything having to do with constellations/stars/the moon. I am also into this.
I’m giving her a functional space that feels great. You know how passionate I am about your interior design affecting your mood. We are being proactive to give this gal a lovely space that is calming and speaks to her personality. There are plenty of plushy textures and cool patterns. Wanna see the plan?
Mood Board
The end result will be an affordable boho bedroom with plenty of color and interest. The bedroom has a single window that is pretty small so we are talking about transforming the curtains into a roman shade.
She also wants to jazz up the cottage with some peel and stick removable wallpaper in the bedroom and living room. We are going to experiment with some other elements that add interest such as macrame wall hangings and assorted plants. Basically, this is going to feel like I’m making over my own home:-)

Note: She already owns the curtains and lamp, and the vase is a place holder until she can get one from her mom and add branches from around her cottage.
