A Caned Console is Spring’s Must Have

caned console
You know how obsessed I am with caned furniture. Well, I've been seeing this particular piece of caned furniture all over instagram. The specific item? A caned console. If you are like me, you hate media consoles. More often than not, they are so poorly designed, like an afterthought. Your space is worth more than that. So, today, we are talking about spicing up your living room with a caned console that doesn't suck.

You know how obsessed I am with caned furniture. Well, I’ve been seeing this particular piece of caned furniture all over instagram. The specific item? A caned console. If you are like me, you hate media consoles. More often than not, they are so poorly designed, like an afterthought. Your space is worth more than that. So, today, we are talking about spicing up your living room with a caned console that doesn’t suck.

The great thing about caned furniture is the warmth it brings without the heaviness of wood. It’s a brilliant design, really. It’s pretty difficult to find a nice media console because I think that designers predict that the rest of your furniture will be on the heavier side, and they aren’t wrong. So we are left with industrial glass consoles for our televisions and let’s face it, the industrial style isn’t for everyone or every space.

Enter: the caned console. This solves all the problems (and I’ll even show you how to style it). You can have a vintage inspired design, with natural elements, that isn’t bulky. It’s a win win. I’ll be doing a post soon about Urban Outfitter’s spring furniture collection because it is a gold mine of perfect furniture pieces that are natural not heavy (spoilers: lots of caning and rattan). YESSSSS.

I love when furniture has some architectural detailing. Cane chairs just bring it. I also love how this TV console is a modernized version of the mid century classic because of its Scandinavian lines. The two most popular caned console tables I’ve seen are both from Target and therefore affordable! Check them out:

I first saw this beauty on Jenny Komenda’s Instagram stories. Everyone was asking where she sourced it and she came back later to link this exact console. Full disclosure, the console is currently sold out (go figure!), but you can sign up to be notified when Target restocks it.

Here is it in a smaller size.

If you don’t know who Chambers Austelle is, follow her noooow. She is a super talented artist and makes these gorgeous paintings of women. I think something by her will need to be the next addition to my home because I have been obsessed with her for a while. A while back, she posted some free phone backgrounds on her IG stories and for a looong time, her art was both my home and lock screens.

So, what say you? Are you a fan of the caned console? It’s about time to spruce up your space for spring, and I’m finding a lot of great things that will inspire.
