So I’ve been thinking that green is probably one of the must underrated colors, don’t you think? Maybe because we are in the dead of winter and everything is gray, but I am craving vibrant green. I’ve even been eating more green vegetables, that’s how dire the circumstances are. When I went hunting for inspirational images, I surprisingly couldn’t find many showcasing GOOD green rooms.

Welcome to the second installment of my tile series. Today’s color: BLUE! I kind of felt like I was on Sesame Street just then…like I’m Elmo telling you the letter of the day. Now I have the “what’s the letter of the dayyyyyy” song stuck in my head. Which is kind of ironic considering I was just listening to Cardi B which is for sure not rated G.
There is a very special place in my heart for kids. When I first moved to NYC, I worked as a nanny. This is a common occurrence in this city; most people, unless they have landed their dream job right away (go them!!!), have a side hustle. Rent is high and you need money fast. Interviewing takes a lot of time and you need to make money until you do the thing you set out to do when you moved here, the city of dreams and heroes (the sandwich…and I guess the people).

In case you missed it, I’m an interior designer. Designing spaces with different styles and colors comes pretty naturally to me. I love risk taking because I can visualize it in my head–so the outcome isn’t scary; I already know how it will look. It occurs to me though, that other people aren’t able to do this as easily. That’s why they update their space once a decade, and then *WHEW* they are done and don’t have to worry about it.
Today, I’m showing you this really super awesome kid room. It’s so so lovely. This design makes me feel like it belongs in a Redwood tree in a fairy forest. It is dreamy and airy and precious and soft and warm and oh so much yes.
I love the opportunity to use color, texture, and pattern. Most people shy away from it, but if it’s done properly, it will look great every single time. What’s best about mixing patterns is that it automatically gives you a sense of nostalgia. Like, when you remember how your grandma’s house looked. There was pattern everywhere!
