If you’re like me, your sofa gets A LOT of use. I am kind of OCD about the cleanliness of fabric. Carpet grosses me out because of all the accumulated germs. Sure, you can vacuum to your hearts content, but you need something to disinfect. I would prefer that something to not be laden with toxic chemicals and be safe to inhale (so, not your fabric sprays from the store). With just 3 ingredients, my DIY natural fabric refresher spray will leave your fabric and carpet clean and smelling fresh.
I’m sitting here writing this as the heat index in NYC today is 105 degrees. Come on, fall! Fall is my favorite season. I much prefer the in between seasons like fall and spring where temperatures aren’t as extreme and the world just seems a little softer. I like to make little adjustments to our interior design seasonally, just to keep things fresh (and because I get bored). Today, I’m sharing the fall 2018 interior design trend forecast so that you can make some little adjustments in your home as well!
Recently, I became very aware of how much plastic is being used in the world. I realized this when I was thinking about how much I personally use, felt good about it, then opened the fridge and realized that every condiment was in a plastic bottle. Horrified, I went around the apartment looking for plastic I may have missed. Oh, boy was there a lot.
I love outdoor rugs. They are so durable and the color and patterns are fantastic. People are more likely to be daring in their outdoor decor, it seems, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of great neutral options. Yesterday, I told you I use outdoor rugs indoors in two rooms in my home and I’ve never looked back. My rugs have lasted years longer because in 2 spaces, I switched from indoor rugs to outdoor rugs. Today, I’ve rounded up my favorite neutral outdoor rugs to use indoors.
I use outdoor rugs indoors as a result of homemaking lessons learned. When I first moved to NYC, I was blindly naive. Not in the sense that I would walk alone down alleys or anything, but in the realities of city life. Our first rug was really cool. It was from IKEA with a blue squiggle pattern, but, it was WHITE.
MONOCHROME! What comes to mind when you think about monochromatic rooms? Do you think they will either be white, boring, and asylum-esque or do you think they will be a wild color and therefore feel like you’re staring at Willy Wonka’s cavernous bedroom? Well, let’s meet in the middle and I’ll show you some beautiful monochromatic rooms that aren’t boring or too crazy.
