AFFORDABLE Pantry Organization Ideas

I focus on lifestyle in all my designs. So with each of these pantry organization ideas, I thought about how you specifically would be getting things in and out of your pantry. I’ve thought through product visibility and how you’ll best be able to see and access what you have–which is key to saving both time and money in meal making!

I’ve organized this post by pantry item and how I recommend storing that item. I think what many people do “wrong” is get giant bins which inevitably become chaotic. I have a different approach: The key to an organized pantry is using smaller bins with each bin having its own category.

1.Canned goods & sodas

There are many vertical can holders out there but very few of them allow you to access all cans. Most people don’t have 20 of the same can, so we need a solution allowing for can variety, visibility, and access.

2.Spices

My over the door organizer is amazing. I have all spices, teas, misc items like bread crumbs, etc. I recommend these two products for streamlined and beautiful over door storage:

3.Baking supplies

Pro tip: to prevent bugs from getting inside, I put peppermint essential oil on a Qtip and spread the oil around the outer rim of each jar. I stopped having pest problems after that. This is especially important with jars of flours and sugars!

How to use: group like items in each basket. Organize by categories such as flours, sugars, add ins like nuts and chocolate chips, etc.

4.Sauces

Here are 2 turn tables to choose from. They both have a lip so items won’t spin away! This solution was a client request:-)

How to use: group similar sauces together. In my home I have multiple categories: curry sauces, Italian sauces, hot sauces, etc. You could also use it for spices.

5.Snacks

These bins are great! They are wide so you can easily store different snacks and they can stack so you can create a whole station.

Pro tip: you could dedicate one bin or stack of bins per family member and that family member is in charge of keeping their own snacks stocked.

These are great for organizing kids’ snacks:

6.Pots + pans

These have been game changing for me. I can make use of my small space and not be frustrated trying to get my cooking supplies out.

Pro tip: if you have little ones, I would keep these on the lower shelves. I just don’t like having heavy things high up in case there was an accident. Safety first!

7.Vertical storage ideas

One thing I learned living in NYC is: go vertical. My pantry shelves are built in, so I have risers like this to maximize how much I can fit in there. I also have these risers in my cabinets for plates, mugs, water bottles, and glass storage containers. I save soooooo much space.

Pair the risers with these:

How to use: put the taller items in acrylic bins on top of the riser and put the shorter items in the acrylic bin under the shelf so you can pull the bin out.

In my home, I put pesto and small sauces in the bin under the riser, and tall sauces on top. You can also group snacks this way easily!

How to use: fill with foil, snacks, spaghetti, whatever! This is great for a tall shelf because you can use every last inch!

Lights

I bought these last month and I can’t believe I ever lived without them. You can set them to be motion activated or manual turn on. They are so helpful!

I hope these pantry organization ideas help you! An organized space has so many mental benefits. There is so much to worry about outside the home, so my goal is to help you make the inside of your home as calm as possible:-) Thanks for reading!
