I love the One Room Challenge. I've written about it multiple times and love how the design community has carved out its own little space among all the little squares. It's beautiful. I love the One Room Challenge. I’ve written about it multiple times and love how the design community has carved out its own little space among all the little squares. It’s beautiful. Last month, I posted the featured designers’ initial plans, and today, I’m sharing the One Room Challenge reveals that stopped me in my tracks.

If you missed everyone’s initial plans, I introduced them in part I & part II. It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of DIYs, and I am consistently amazed at the creativity and power shown by participants each season. These are some BOSSES, ya’ll.

I also love to follow along on everyone’s instastories. Jewel Marlowe consistently cracks me up with her personality and never ending to do list. Only 6 weeks for the makeover? No problem, she will just do 3 rooms and reupholster everything just in case. She’s the coolest.

The Most Amazing One Room Challenge Reveals

Ok, so are you ready for me to showcase some of these amazing reveals? Truth be told, there were close to 200 participants in the fall 2019 ORC, with nearly 20 featured designers, and as much as I would LOVE (and prefer!) to feature everyone and showcase their talent, I just don’t have the woman power (I’m replacing the word “manpower” from now on, by the way).

The rooms I selected are very unique in their own right. All of the entries are gorgeous, but I am sharing the ones with that extra little something that made me stop the scroll and start the drool.

Here are my fave 8:

1. Nicole White

Nicole White

OH. MY. GOOOOODNESS. This is INSANE. Nicole did an office/dining combo space (complete with a mom nook!!!). If anything, check out her full reveal to see the architectural wood installation on the ceiling. It’s so so good.

I love a good ceiling moment…after all, it’s a 5th wall, right? This black and white ceiling framed out by the wood installation is bonkers amazing. This is one sexy office, if I may say so.

Here’s the full reveal.

2. Dabito

Old Brand New

The superstar returns with the coolest and coziest office ever! Dabito consistently pumps out the most layered boho-chic spaces ever. He’s like the male version of Justina Blakeney’s Jungalow. Color, pattern, texture, interesting shapes, it’s just all dreamy.

Somehow, he just nails bringing the outdoors inside in a totally unique and abstract way. I always feel so happy looking at his spaces and I was happy to learn that this is an antique Chinese rug from OVERSTOCK. LIKE WHAT?? Good to know that Overstock is now slingin’ antiques this glorious.

3. Jewel Marlowe

Jewel Marlowe

We really can’t get through One Room Challenge reveals without Jewel Marlowe, the QUEEN. This might be my favorite makeover of all time. She took on both her living room AND kitchen. She sewed, she wallpapered, she reupholstered, she conquered.

This girl WORKS, you guys. She’s always on the lookout for architectural furniture she can upcycle and transform (a gal after my own heart). Her home outside of DC is an oasis for design lovers and dreamers.

4. Place of My Taste

Place of My Taste

Is this a master bath in the French countryside? BECAUSE IT SHOULD BE. You know from my last blog post, that I loooove me some modern traditional. This master bath is bonkers good. The rustic elements, the soul, the creativity. Ah, what a beauty.

For some reason, this reminds me of Nate Berkus’ NYC kitchen that was featured in Architectural Digest. It just feels so warm and familiar, in the most unique and out of this world way. I love when interiors make me feel all warm and fuzzy.

5. Erin Kestenbaum

Are you surprised by this one? It’s different, right? The other entries I selected are more maximalist but this one reminds me of something straight out of Architectural Digest. The details and architectural elements are incredible. It’s the simplicity that gets me in this kitchen. It looks like a celeb’s kitchen, right??

I never met a buttery mid tone blue that I didn’t love. And paired with gold hardware? SWOOOON. This dreamy kitchen expertly mixes geometry like a freakin’ hero.

6. Veronica Solomon

Casa Vilora

HOT DANG! TALK ABOUT A LAUNDRY ROOM. Geeze, Louise, if this were my laundry room (or, like, if I even had a laundry room) I would be elated. It’s so so special to put this much time and care into a workroom that could be a dark corner of a basement. THIS is great design.

Most glamorous laundry room award. And I just had to scroll through her blog post to find out that game changing counter material. It’s like panda marble, but opposite! It’s called Zebrino Nexus marble and I hereby declare that it should go everywhere. In everyone’s home. Agree?

7. Hommeboys

Hommeboys

I am LOVING that wall texture is coming back. This Moroccan meets boho meets old swanky NYC performance hall master bedroom is a literal oasis. It’s warm, cozy, intimate, and super inviting. I’ve been a big fan of Hommeboys for a while now, and every project keeps getting better and better. If you haven’t yet seen their architectural work, get on it.

Not only did they tackle the bedroom, but the bathroom too. Spoilers: it uses my favorite zellige tile from Cle.

8. Girl & Grey

Girl & Grey

Man, I love a brick moment. Jenny Komenda “faked” the brick look with tile and a brush on cream cheese (I don’t know what it’s actually called, OKAY) in her own kitchen and I’m very happy to see it appear again in another stellar kitchen!

I’ve been on a green kick lately, so this cabinet color is speaking to me. I especially love it paired with light woods and that gorgeous runner! It’s unique, boho, but also familiar and warm.

Here’s the full reveal.

And there you have it, folks! Which One Room Challenge reveals were your faves? Please click the links and really dive into these stellar people’s full reveals. There are so many amazing design moments and I couldn’t include them all! Show these babes some love on their pages:-)
