Aside from what you see in magazines, in real life your television is probably the center of your space. Your furniture is placed around this one item, right? And that’s okay! However, in this digital age, I think it’s crucial that we still make the best design choices possible for our tech items. Let me show you some amazing modern minimalist TV consoles that don’t suck.

Why Your TV Console Choice Matters

So, what gives? Why can your TV console make or break your space? Well, a TV is already a giant piece of technology. It’s color scheme is mostly silver and black. I don’t know about you, but that kind of futuristic/industrial color scheme and style does not scream “home” to me.

Your TV is a large, black rectangle, so we need to soften up this aesthetic. We do that by selecting a complete opposite color scheme and style. We seek out natural woods, curved finishes, interesting details. We want modern minimalist TV consoles because we need to soften the effect of the TV without adding a ton of bulk to the space.

Do you know how much instagram scrolling I had to do to find an image of a living room that includes the TV? These pictures simply don’t exist because designers consider the TV an eye sore. Let’s fix that, shall we?

What Style Suits Your Space?

The style TV console you buy will depend on the size and layout of your space. I live in a Manhattan apartment that is less than 600 square feet. My living room is also my guest bedroom (pull out sofa), workout room (elliptical, yoga, weights), art studio, product packing station, home office for 2 people, and dining room.

That is A LOT to fit into one space. So, because I have other pieces of large furniture such as office storage cubbies and cabinets, a coffee table with storage, dining table, etc, then I needed a TV console that made itself scarce. I opted for a low standing glass console that is long and skinny to fit our large TV. It reflects light to make the place appear larger, and because it is see through, it doesn’t add bulk.

Typically, I would suggest going with a modern minimalist TV console that is made of wood or glass, reserving the glass option for small spaces and large TVs. If you have a large TV (55+ inches), it’s kind of difficult to find a wooden console that won’t add a ton of bulk, unless you have a large space.

So, let’s get to it! I’m sharing my favorite modern minimalist TV consoles that will suit almost any space and style. They are beautiful, add design value, and bring the warmth of home. These options are also easy to find and affordable, as they are from Target.

Notice anything about this selection? It is the only black selection I have made. I find that most of my male clients tend to still like the darker and painted wood options, so I thought I would acquiesce.

Although this is a darker selection, it is very minimal and mid century, and it also has a cool detailing on the doors. So, it’s not just this big blag glob in your living room; there’s some distinction between the tech and the furniture.
