Tea is so good for you, but in the hot summer, you definitely don’t want a hot drink. So here’s my recipe for your coffee house favorite: iced green tea concentrate. This one iced green tea concentrate will make glass after glass but you only have to turn the stove on once!

One of my favorite drinks in the summer is the coffee house iced tea. They make an iced green tea concentrate, just like this, and just fill the rest with water. It’s a genius way to make tea in bulk without taking up a ton of fridge space because you add the water as you drink it.

This is a recipe for your basic iced green tea concentrate, but you can certainly add some pizzazz to it! I add a teaspoon of dried culinary lavender for some extra relaxation while the tea is steeping. You can also add lemon and mint to your tea when you’re ready to drink it. At a gathering, it would be super fun to have a tea station with all the extras.

Coffee House Iced Green Tea Concentrate

Ingredients:

  • 7 green tea bags (or 7t loose leaf green tea in a large mesh tea and spice infuser ball)
  • tea kettle filled 3/4 with water
  • 1t dried culinary lavender (optional, but delicious)

Method:

  • place tea kettle full of water on stove
  • remove paper tags of tea bags (if any)
  • fill mesh tea and spice infuser ball with culinary lavender
  • place green tea bags (or loose leaf ball) and lavender ball in tea kettle full of water
  • bring to a boil and then turn off but do not remove from heat
  • let tea steep until cool
  • when cool, remove tea bags
  • store in large mason jar in fridge (will last up to 5 days in airtight jar)

To drink:

  • fill glass with 1/3 iced green tea concentrate and 2/3 cold water
  • add ice and enjoy over the next few days!

Not only is it delicious and super cheap to make, but by making your own iced green tea concentrate, you’re saving that plastic cup, lid, and straw that would have been given to you had you gone to the coffee house. So, hooray for you! You eco-conscious rockstar. Enjoy, and stay cool and hydrated this summer!
