I LOVE a good home tour. I especially love a good flip. If you’ve been following Jenny Komenda, you know she just finished flipping what she’s calling ‘The Evergreen House’. You’ve been able to see sneak peaks of different areas on her instagram, but today, I’m sharing Jenny Komenda’s Evergreen House kitchen reveal.
Jenny is known for her awesome ability to blend natural elements with southwest flair. All of her interiors are completely dreamy, and she’s always up for a good DIY. You also might know her from Juniper Studio and their carefully curated selection of affordable art prints as well as home decor textiles.
Just so you know the state of this kitchen before Jenny began, I’m going to show you a before shot. The entire house was in pretty rough shape, and Jenny completely transformed this gem into something that is spectacular.

I think it’s important to note that Jenny Komenda’s Evergreen House kitchen was done on a budget. Jenny explained that when you’re flipping a home, literally every design decision cuts into your profits, so you have to be very mindful in your choices and strike a balance between affordability and awesome design.
I mention this because it’s easy to look at a beautiful design and think they spent a fortune and hired fancy designers who only use to the trade luxury products that you can’t get. Not here, boo. Jenny is all about budget hacks that make your home look custom.
Love the tile? It looks like pricey cement tile, but it’s actually from Wayfair! Those cabinets? They were only $7,000 for the entire kitchen! Jenny then hired someone to cut moldings to make the cabinetry look custom. Pretty good idea, right? That’s a really easy way to affordably update your kitchen cabinets.
Want to hear something funny? Literally the day after my post about fixing your outdated granite, I was watching Jenny’s instastories and she revealed that the Evergreen House counters are matte granite. So funny! Literally my solution to outdated shiny granite was to get it honed so it’s a matte finish. I feel validated lol.
Also, I’m thrilled she didn’t go for marble. So many people install marble in a flip because they think it will immediately make the place look upscale. As a PSA, check out my post on why marble is the worst kitchen material. But wait until you finish Jenny Komenda’s Evergreen House kitchen reveal:-) This gem deserves some attention first.
Are you noticing anything about the finishes Jenny chose? So many people think their finishes all have to match or be super similar. That’s not the case! Blending different finishes makes a space look much more layered, which makes it look warm and homey.
In Jenny Komenda’s Evergreen House kitchen, I spot brass, gold, matte black, and wood finishes, and yet, it all goes together. Mixing up finishes gives a home that much more character and doesn’t make it look like a new build, but like it has evolved over time.
Keeping with the cottage feel of the home, instead of getting metal cabinet knobs, Jenny opted for painting round wooden knobs the same color as the cabinetry. This idea literally costs pennies and looks fantastic. And yeah, that’s a freakin’ DUTCH DOOR!
So, how in love are you with Jenny Komenda’s Evergreen House kitchen?? It’s located near Mesa Arizona and will be on the market soon if you are in that area and want to check it out. Jenny consistently does awesome makeovers, and lives in a pretty awesome home herself.
Jenny very kindly provided links to what you see in her design, including the styling pieces. Head on over to her blog post to check out all the sources she used so you can get them too! This truly is such a lovely design.

What a great article. I love the cabinets. The green is to die for. I’m trying to get a fresh cabinet painting soon in my own place, and seeing your design was really helpful to me. Thanks for sharing!
Why thank you! Isn’t green such a great color? This isn’t my design though; I’m just a huge fan:-) Good luck in your own cabinet painting! I painted our cabinets myself over the summer and it made such a difference.
