I am really loving the boho trend as of late because it includes all the plants and cool textiles. You have a ton of options when it comes to DIY-ing some boho home decor.

Simple Bohemian Party Decor Ideas

1. DIY Leaf Napkin Rings

Sugar & Cloth

I love napkin rings, especially ones that are handmade. This particular craft is super easy and made of air dry clay that is stamped with the imprint of a real leaf! If you have a seating plan you are sticking with, you can use a toothpick to carve the initials of the guest in the wet clay. Talk about customization. Designing the perfect dining area is all about the details.

2. Hanging Clay Planters

Paper n Stitch

Another clay project that is as easy as making the pinch pots you loved in elementary school is the hanging clay planter. You can hang them at different heights and get some shepherds hooks if you want to create a grand entrance for your party. The sky is the limit!

3. Clay and Rope Pot

Fall for DIY

I love a good DIY bowl. This one is extra special because of the rope detail, adding another textural element that is gorgeous. You can make a few of these and have them house extra silverware, napkins, candy, at your dinner table. You could even fill them with sand to hold the table number or the person being celebrated’s name.

4. Clay Wind Charm

Ok. THIS. You need this if your party is outdoors. This would make a killer photo wall. Picture these beautiful little wind chimes with the eucalyptus garland in #15. Hang some of these babies on a wall and you’ve got yourself an insta-worthy photobooth. You can even treat these like garland and pair them with the hanging planters on shepherds hooks. This is one of my favorite bohemian party decor ideas because the possibilities are endless.

5. Giant Confetti Balloon

Balloons? Hear me out. You can tie a cool balloon to your mailbox, around the graduate’s chair, the present table, the snack table, etc. These giant clear balloons are so awesome and modern. For extra boho flare, you can attach greenery, fringe, or tassels to the balloon’s string and you’ve got yourself a party.

6. Infused Water Station

Style Me Pretty

Infused waters are the ultimate luxury. In our plastic conscious world, we won’t be using coolers filled with single use plastic water bottles. No, sir! WE will be having a custom drink station with different infused waters. Just make sure you label the water in case anyone has allergies to different fruits or herbs. For an extra special touch, one of the waters can be sparkling!

7. Green and Blush Living Tablescape

Bring on the succulents and bring home the plant party favors! Bohemian party decor ideas don’t have to be draped in burlap; feel free to use as much or as little color as you want. Pro tip: if using plants, pull colors from the plants and repeat those colors in your table decor.

8. Paper Smorgasbord

Paper plates? Not here. Cheap plastic or aluminum serving dishes? Nah. In true boho style, we are simplifying and going green! Make the party feel like an intimate picnic and save yourself from doing the dishes. Get some eco-friendly brown parchment paper and display your food family style. I mean, your guests will be family or friends who are like family, so you might as well.

9. Woven Table Runner

You can either buy one of these macrame table runners or DIY one! The great thing about this is that it can be used later as a wall hanging. This would be a really special thing to make for a graduate and then send it off with them to use in their first apartment or dorm.

10. Painted Drop Cloth Backdrop

In design, a way you break up your space is through visual cues or barriers. If you want to separate different areas of your party, do so with decor! A painted drop cloth is a multi purpose powerhouse that can be used as a table cloth, photo wall, outdoor picnic blanket with pillows for people to lounge, etc. You can create your own pattern easily, just remember to use fabric paint if you want your pattern to survive the wash.

11. Thrift Store Vintage Glasses and Plates

I Spy DIY

I love the thrift store. I am a recent thrifting convert and although it is incredibly difficult to do in NYC, it’s so much fun. The single greatest way to add some personality and funk to your boho table is to hit up the thrift stores.

You can sometimes get vintage plates and glasses for literal pennies. The great thing about this is that you can mix and match and really take advantage of the colored glass that was so popular. Your tablescape will be a magical vintage inspired moment that everyone will appreciate.

12. No Vase Flower Centerpieces

Sarah Sherman Samuel is the ultimate style maker. She is a master at putting different tonal elements together and forming a masterpiece. One of the great bohemian party decor ideas is to decorate without vases. Don’t contain your plants and instead let them be scattered down the center of the table as if they were growing in the wild.

This is a perfect way to decorate for a dinner party that you don’t want to feel too formal. It can be difficult to tackle the place settings, cloth napkins, various beverage glasses, place mats, and table cloths without your occasion feeling like you’re at at wedding. So add some elements that put your guests at ease.

13. Terracotta Pot Plates

There are soooo many uses for terracotta. It’s a great breathable material and also gives a sense of earthiness and grounding. Why not use terracotta plant pot plates as actual plates?

14. Eucalyptus Banner

I Spy DIY

This DIY can be totally customized to your liking. You can use dried eucalyptus for a delicious smelling party and can decorate the garland with other flowers, hanging clay pots, balloons, banners, etc. The garland could frame out your dinner table, gift table, or photo wall.

What do you think about these simple bohemian party decor ideas? They are creative, earthy, and are much less wasteful than a trip to the party store. What I think is funny is that many people have whole cabinets of “fancy plates” they never use, but still buy party accessories to use once and throw away.

We are moving beyond the throw away culture and also are more mindful about our space. You’ll find that more people are opting for party decor they can use again and again. It’s more special, doesn’t feel like you’re at a toddler party, is better for the environment, and makes you feel more of a guest than an imposition with a paper plate and a plastic cup you will lose track of.

I challenge you to evaluate your go to party decor. Do you buy paper plates? Plastic cups that will somehow multiply and be left all over your home and yard? Will your trash can be overflowing with red paper napkins? What if instead, your bohemian party decor ideas were more sustainable?
