Halloween is coming up soon so you’re probably going to be doing some pumpkin crafts this weekend. Being an artist, I really love painting pumpkins much more than carving them…although it is pretty fun to get some free toasted pepitas as a reward for removing the inner pumpkin mush. Today, I’m sharing 12 DIY no-carve painted pumpkin ideas that are just beautiful.
As I get older, I’m all about seasonal decor. It makes me feel happy and like I’m the best homemaker ever. If you’re familiar with the comedian Ali Wong, she says adults give themselves some flair because everyday the life gets sucked out of them–haha. Isn’t that true, though? I used to think crafts were so tacky and holiday decor was just ‘meh’, but now, I JUST WANT SOMETHING PRETTY AND HAPPY TO LOOK AT. Don’t worry, this isn’t a cry for help.
12 DIY No-Carve Painted Pumpkin Ideas
Being an interior designer, it is pretty important to me that holiday decor still remain tasteful and complement the rest of my decor. So today’s DIY no-carve painted pumpkin ideas will include pumpkins that are more like decor pieces. They are creative, colorful, and will fit your decor scheme much more than a carved pumpkin with a creepy face that won’t stop staring at you. I digress. So here is a roundup of my favorite DIYs!

So how about it? Will you do some Halloween crafts this weekend? I love to paint so really, you can get me to paint anything and I’ll be smitten. One thing I love about these DIY no-carve painted pumpkin ideas is how EASY they are, but they still yield a pretty fantastic home decor item!
If you have little ones and don’t want to get out the knives to carve (I don’t blame you), one of my favorite arts and crafts ideas is to paint the pumpkin white, then give you kids run of the roost with kids’ paints and let them go to town. While the paint is still wet, you can add little pom poms, feathers, and gems as well. You end up with a really lovely abstract art piece that is 3d! Kids are pretty great abstract artists, if you didn’t know.
You could also paint their favorite characters on the pumpkin. I once made an Olaf pumpkin for a 2 year old in my nanny days and it was a blast. ‘Tis the season for family crafts and cooking, so soak up all the joy you can. Cooler temps mean cozy family days. Enjoy!
