It’s August and that means back to school! Many things have changed since I’ve been in college, and teens are way cooler now somehow. Their tastes are elevated and they want high design (good for them!). So I’ve designed a really fun dorm room to keep your spirits up with studies and hangouts all year. This neutral boho dorm decor is oozing with charm and will make your room the hangout!
Funny story (and cautionary tale!): when I interned here in NYC in 2011, I lived in the NYU dorms. My roommate loved to light incense (you know where this is going). She was told not to, but never the less, she persisted. One night, the incense set off the smoke alarms and the entire NYU dorm had to be evacuated. There were also about 10 firetrucks on the scene as we all stood outside waiting for the hammer to drop as it was our dorm that caused this. So, take it from me: DO NOT LIGHT ANYTHING IN YOUR DORM. I know, I know. But: CANDLES! I have a solution for you. Get this cutie candle warming lamp instead.
Neutral Boho Dorm Decor
Ok here she is! Your perfect neutral boho dorm decor scheme. This design is meant to be as cozy as home, maybe even more so! I truly believe that your space influences your headspace and how you show up in the world, so a beautiful and functional space is a gift for yourself this school year. I hope you enjoy and if you’re dorming this year, I hope your school year brings so many wonderful new people and experiences for you.

Just because this is a dorm doesn’t mean it can’t be fabulous on budget. A great way to add life to your dorm is to add plants! I swear by Costa Farms. I have many of their plants including the 6 pack of air purifying plants. They are reliable and affordable.
You can also add ambiance with a candle and twinkle lights! The key here is to maximize your space and balance all the functional with items that just make you feel good in your space. Invest in how you live:-)
