Black and white is the most classic color pairing, possibly ever. It is timeless yet somehow super modern. Yesterday, we talked about how to update a farmhouse dining room, so it would only make sense to show you a black and white modern farmhouse dining room today. But before showing you the design, let me show you what inspired me!

There are so many different ways to achieve a modern farmhouse design. Some of these designs are super modern and minimal, while most are a mix of transitional and modern. What they all have in common is that awesome rustic wood table. That is what really anchors the space, immediately providing a sense of warmth. This gives you the freedom to add modern touches because the focal point, and the largest furniture piece, is traditional and speaks to the familiar farmhouse aesthetic. It’s all about balance.
Add in some contemporary chairs, modern abstract art, and a really cool chandelier, and you’ve got yourself the most modern and dare I say, sexy, farmhouse dining room. I’ve chosen to focus on a black and white modern farmhouse dining room because we are playing with mixing modern and traditional furnishings. With a classic black and white color palette, the overall aesthetic won’t feel too modern and cold; there will still be a sense of familiarity which equals a homey and warm feel.
Black and White Modern Farmhouse Dining Room

I designed this dining room in a minimalist aesthetic, still keeping with the farmhouse design style. I included some awesome patent leather head chairs, rattan and brass dining chairs, a really rustic table, modern chandelier, and amazing art. This is the perfect update for a modern space that still feels warm and casual. The farmhouse aesthetic has so many applications and with a little tweaking, it can fit any space. Try it out!
