How I Styled Design Love Fest’s New Line at Target

Hey! Typically I have been writing blog posts weeks in advance and then scheduling them to go live, but this week Design Love Fest’s new line launched at Target and I had to tell you about it AND show you how I styled it. So I am writing this IN REAL TIME OH MY OH MY.

Well, Kristen, why do you write blog posts weeks in advance? Well, stranger on the internet, it’s because waking up and having NOTHING makes me pretty anxious. I know Emily Henderson gets up at like 5am and writes blog posts before her design day even starts, but that would not make me super relaxed in the morning. I already have to drink decaf coffee, so I have a lot to contend with mentally, you guys. I also have a never ending idea monster in my mind that keeps working around the clock, so the amount of ideas I have stored in my phone is outrageous. I like writing what I want, when I want, and getting up and being like “Hmmm, what should I write about today? Let me think about this and then try to write something good and then post it by the time everyone’s work day is over and they won’t even read it” is not how I will roll, possibly ever. I’ve always had a lot on my plate and planning ahead puts me at ease.

SO! The fact that I am writing this Thursday (I know you are reading it Friday, so technically I’m still cheating the “in real time” thing–HEY GET OFF MY BACK), should tell you that this is a pretttttty fun launch. It’s so bright and colorful and oh the patterns. In case you aren’t familiar with Design Love Fest, here’s the quick and dirty: It is a well-known lifestyle blog founded by Bri Emery, a graphic designer based in LA. She has been featured by biggggg names like HGTV, Apartment Therapy, Elle Decor, Martha Stewart, etc. I mean just check out her instagram…this girl knows fun and knows color. SWOON.

Anytime an influencer launches a product line with a major brand, it makes me so so happy. We live in such an exciting time! Do you even realize how powerful we all are? Just by sharing what you are good at will get you noticed and provide opportunities. It’s amazing.

Anyways, this couldn’t have come at a better time. We are probably all still mourning the last Oh Joy collection for Target and look who steps in with some pattern and play! Design Love Fest! For those of you who love some color in your homes, you’re going to adore these products. And for those who don’t like color, that’s ok too because you still have eyeballs and can see pretty things even if you don’t embrace them in your own home. It’s allllll good. So, here we go! Let me tell you how I styled 3 pieces from the collection. Ready, set, GO!

The Design

This might come as a shock, but I don’t embrace many of the warmer pastel colors. I know. SHOCKING. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t design an entire room around this collection…because I did, ya’ll. My favorite color used to be pink, and then I moved in with a guy. You know how that goes. Which is fine, but my new preferences are blues, grays, black, with brighter colors playing more of a supporting role. However, I am improving. I ordered a pastel pink velvet pillow cover and a pink hand towel for the bathroom from H&M home. So there’s hope.

A lot of these pieces come in solids and are available in different colors…including a deep hunter green! Bri did the larger pieces juuuuust right. They are these soft pastels that make you want to dive in. Perfect. She also did something cool by making modular furniture that you can just put together…which is what I did. She makes these corner chairs, armless chairs, and an ottoman, BUT if you fashion them just right, you can put them together and create your own deep seating sofa and use the ottoman as the chaise lounge. This line is perfect for apartments because you can reconfigure at will. Plus, the price is right.

The items I used from the collection are the corner chairs in ‘Zuma White’, the pillowtop armless love seat in ‘Yuma Light Pink’, and the blackout curtains in ‘Potter Dot Pink’. I made a sofa by putting 2 of the corner chairs together. BOOM. As you can see, my design isn’t overly girly, it’s just warm, inviting, and creative.

I styled the rest of the room by pulling from other lines at Target like Project 62 (another fave). Everything you see here is from Target and linked below. Happy shopping!
